In taking the win at the Children's Miracle Network Classic and solidifying an Official World GolfRanking of 30 (the highest-ranked Canadian),Calgary's Stephen Ames had a lot of things goinghis way. For starters, he stepped to the first tee onFriday in his Nike Air Zoom Elite shoes and proceeded to card seven straight birdies on his way to posting a 63.
And, armed with the control of his NIKE ONE ball, he certainly took his short game in the right direction, finishing the weekend tied for first in putts-per-round and first in birdies with 23.
But in closing down the rest of the field on the back nine on Sunday, the real thing going his way was his ball, headed very straight and very far down the fairway thanks to his driver and its SUMO² technology. The very same driver technology, in fact, that will be unveiled in its next game-changing forms on February 2nd.
So, however you're currently preparing for that next crucial round, be sure to wait for February and the next big things in square technology before rounding out your bag.

Roughriders Game Party - October 26th
St. Alban's Men's Fellowship met in the basement of the home of Steve Bicknell to watch and cheer on the Saskatchewan Roughriders as they played in Edmonton. Thank goodness they came from behind twice to win the game in overtime. Lively discussion about the holding penalty called during field goal attempt by Edmonton, but we'll take it.

WHL - Prince Albert Raiders
Not is all good news in Sports. My Prince Albert Raiders are struggling this year. I agree with the Daily Herald editorial... Time to change things with a new GM. That's about the only change that hasn't been made.
PGA - Fry's Electronics Open
Great news. Canada's Mike Weir played a great weekend and final round of golf with great approach shots. He won the Fry's Electronics Open by 1 stroke with -14. It has been 3 1/2 years since Mike has last won. CONGRATULATIONS!
CFL
Although it was expected, it is never guaranteed. It was great that Saskatchewan Roughriders defeated Hamilton Ti-Cats today 38 - 11. Thanks to the Roughrider fans for filling the Stadium to allow us to view the game on TV in the rest of Saskatchewan. I bet there is lots of discussion taking place on the Facebook Roughrider Fan Groups.

Weekend Sports
Saskatchewan Roughriders won - missed viewing the game. Prince Albert Raiders lost.
In the President's Cup - US beat the rest of the world, but Mike Weir beat Tiger Woods in front of his adoring Canadian Fans in Montreal - That event I did watch.

Golfing at Waskesiu - September 18th
What a beautiful day for golf. Ron Cripps and I had planned it about 3 weeks ago and the Lord provided us a day. Harry Hancock and I set out at 8:00 am from P.A. and Ron and his wife Debby started out from Shellbrook. We met at the Waskesiu Golf Course and I suggested that we played 2 man best ball scramble - Harry and I against Ron and Deb. It proved to be an equal match with both teams ending up tied with a 91. The fall colours were spectacular. By the time we were finished it was +16c. We saw the elk on the course. One group in particular - a cow and 2 calves with a stately bull. After they had crossed the 17th fairway, the bull started t o bugle. With rented golf carts we finished in 4 hours. No one slowing us down in front and no one pushing us from behind. We teed off before 10:00 am and were back home by 4:00 pm.

Great Day for Golf
This post was moved from another blog, hence the lack of chronology.
Dan Stroman and I teed off at 9:00 am at Kachur's Golf Course. Keep in mind 9:00 am is an early tee time for me. We talked Patti into accepting Dan's Gift Certificate (with her signature) as a paid green fee to go along with my payment to allow me to use a free golf cart rental coupon. First 2 balls I didn't make over the water on the first tee. I ended up with 57 after first 9, but did better playing the back 9 with a 48 and 105 total. Dan played better on the front 9 with a 51 and took a 12 on #17 to make the game closer. His back 9 score was 53 even with the 12 so he beat me by one stroke. More importantly, it was a great day for golf... A bit windy, but lots of sunshine and shirt sleeve after the first few holes.
